Hygiene Guide

The Feed Hygiene Regulation 183/2005 is encouraging the development of sector guides for the application of HACCP Principles. Responding to this call, FEDIOL together with the European starch industry, Starch Europe, and the European biodiesel industry, EBB, have made the European Guide for the industrial manufacturing of safe feed materials. This Guide was endorsed by the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health in June 2010 and the revised version in November 2014.

EU harmonized certification

EFISC-GTP (European Feed and Food Ingredient Safety Certification), of which FEDIOL is a member, offers an open platform for dialogue to the feed materials manufacturers to exchange on issues related to feed materials safety and welcomes the participation of other sectors. The European code to good practice for the collection, transport, storage, trading and industrial manufacture of safe feed/food ingredients (EFISC-GTP) has been developed by the European feed materials sector organisations in order to provide an EU harmonised, voluntary, feed safety assurance scheme for the feed materials industry in the EU internal market.

Chain risk assessments

Underpinning FEDIOL’s commitment to safety are its risks assessments of the supply chains of food derived from soybeans, rape seeds, sunflowerseeds, palm (kernel) oil and coconut oil and feed derived from soybeans, rape seeds, sunflower seeds, palm (kernel) oil and coconut oil. The method according to which this has been done has been laid down.
Treated deodistillates from the chemical refining of crude oils can be safely applied for feed (see factsheet 12SAF196)
